Managing Your Personal Data

You have the right to access and download all the personal data we store about you. This guide explains how to exercise that right.

Your Data Rights

Under privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to:

  • Access: See what data we have about you
  • Download: Get a copy of your data
  • Correct: Update inaccurate information
  • Delete: Request deletion of your data
  • Portability: Receive data in a usable format

Downloading Your Data

Step 1: Go to My Connections

  1. Log in to your account
  2. Click your profile icon
  3. Select My Connections

Step 2: Request Download

  1. Look for Download My Data section
  2. Click Download My Data
  3. Confirm your request

Step 3: Receive Your Data

  • Your data is compiled into a JSON file
  • This may take a few minutes for large accounts
  • Download link appears when ready

What's Included

Your data download contains:

Profile Name, email, phone, address
Organizations All organizations you've interacted with
Purchases Complete order history
Donations All donations made
Tickets Event tickets purchased
Subscriptions Active and past subscriptions
Preferences Communication settings
Activity Login history, email opens

Understanding the Data File

The download is a JSON file, which is:

  • Machine-readable format
  • Can be opened in text editors
  • Can be converted to spreadsheet
  • Standard format for data portability

Opening JSON Files

In a text editor:

  • Notepad, TextEdit, VS Code

In a JSON viewer:

  • Online JSON viewers
  • Browser extensions

Convert to spreadsheet:

  • Online JSON to CSV converters
  • Programming tools

Updating Your Data

If you find incorrect information:

Profile Information

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Update name, email, phone, address
  3. Save changes

Communication Preferences

  1. Go to My Connections
  2. Click any organization
  3. Update communication preferences
  4. Save changes

Disconnecting from Organizations

Stop receiving communications from an organization:

  1. Go to My Connections
  2. Click the organization
  3. Scroll to Disconnect
  4. Click Disconnect

Your transaction history is preserved, but:

  • You won't receive their emails
  • You can reconnect anytime by making another purchase

Deleting Your Account

If you want all your data removed:

  1. Go to My Connections
  2. Click Delete My Account
  3. Download your data first (recommended)
  4. Confirm deletion

What Happens When You Delete

  • Profile is anonymized
  • Email subscriptions cancelled
  • Login access removed
  • Transaction records anonymized (not deleted, for legal compliance)

What's Preserved

Some data is retained for legal/business reasons:

  • Anonymized transaction records (for accounting)
  • Audit logs (with personal info removed)

Data Security

Your data is protected by:

  • Encryption at rest: Data encrypted in storage
  • Encryption in transit: Protected during transfer
  • Access controls: Limited to authorized personnel
  • Regular audits: Security reviews and updates
